A little wisdom from a very wise person.
Thoughts from the desk (and excel screen) of Sarah Leslie Clasing: life lessons and keys to happiness I probably should have learned by now. Here's to teaching old dogs new tricks:
1. Be more assertive. If you don't believe in yourself who will? No one ever accomplished anything by holding back.
2. Learn to say "no." Trying to please everyone is exhausting.
3. Stop procrastinating. There is no time like the present. Every journey begins with a first step.
4. Sometimes the best reason is that there is NO good reason. Read fooled by randomness by Nassim Taleb. We always try to look for a reason/explanation for everything; sometimes they are simply out of our grasp. Overanalyzing is exhausting too!
5. Learn to relax: work and school will be there tomorrow. Take a little time to escape them occasionally. It'll make you better when you do go back to them.
6. Be more patient. It is selfish to think that everything must be on your own time schedule. In the grand scheme of things, what is a few wasted minutes here and there if it is for the benefit of someone else?
7. Be more spontaneous! You only live once!
8. Learn to better deal with the unexpected. Sometimes the adventures that result from things that don't go according to plan are the most fun. And sometimes they lead you to a better place than planned!
9. Care less about what people think. True friends will love you anyway.
I realize the hypocrisy in my writing the above points. But hey, we're all works in progress, right?
